Glucola

Today was my 28 week glucola test where they test for gestational diabetes. For those unfamiliar with the glucola, you drink 5 oz of highly concentrated glucose solution and then check a blood sugar one hour later. I had heard that the glucola is sickeningly sweet, and it was! I was curious about just how sugary this drink was, so here it is compared to other sugary drinks... I was shocked by the sugar content of the others!

5 oz bottle of Glucola = 50 gm sugar

1 sugar packet = 4 gm sugar

12 oz can of regular Coke = 39 gm sugar

12 oz glass orange juice = 39 gm sugar

12 oz glass apple juice = 60 gm sugar

Enjoy!

For those who wants to make their own Glucola, use the simple recipe:

3 oz Elmer's Glue
2 oz cokecola
12.5 oz invisible sugar

Combine these three into a 5oz bottle and shake it well. Ready to serve.
